Perry's inspirational journey began from the streets of New Orleans and placed him on Hollywood's A-list. Today, Perry has garnered a huge fan following across the world. He has also received a lot of critical acclaim for his live concerts and that's exactly why Tyler Perry tickets are always hard to get hold of. Born and raised in a house filled with abuse, Tyler fought at a very early age to find the strength that later formed the premise of his famous books, plays, films and shows. A piece of advice from Oprah Winfrey is what set his career in motion. Soon after Tyler began to keep a diary of his daily experiences and thoughts and later started writing soul-searching pieces for himself. His writings inspired the 1992 musical, "I Know I've Been Changed" which Tyler produced by gathering his life's savings in the hopes of featuring it for sold out audiences. However, the play did not meet the fortune that was expected. He did not give up and in 1998 his musical was booked for a run at a local theatre. But this time, hundreds of people came and soon the musical was being featured in Atlanta's famous Fox Theatre.
This led to the beginning of a fantastic run of plays like "Woman Thou Art Loosed!" a famous collaboration with T. D. Jakes. In 2000, the play "I Can Do Bad All By Myself" marked the debut appearance of the phenomenal character Madea. The God-fearing, pot-smoking and gun-toting role of Madea was played by Tyler himself. Madea was a huge success and spawned multiple plays like, "Madea's Class Reunion", "Madea's Family Reunion" and "Madea Goes to Jail" that set the stage for Tyler's entry into the big screen. In 2005, Tyler released his first feature film "Diary of a Mad Black Woman", which earned a lot of acclaim. His other films, "The Family That Preys", "I Can Do Bad All By Myself", "Why Did I Get Married" and "Daddy's Little Girls" all met a lot of commercial success, mesmerizing people across the world.
Tyler was also featured in Rob Cohen's "Alex Cross" and helped him release the Academy Award nominated movie, "Precious". The next year he released his own book, “Don't Make a Black Woman Take Off Her Earrings: Madea's Uninhibited Commentaries on Life and Love" which made its way on the New York Times list of bestseller nonfiction and remained there for eight weeks. The book later bagged Quil Book Awards in the categories of the "Book of the Year" and "Humor" and increased his brand of entertainment to a whole new audience. In 2007, Tyler went on to expand his interest in television with the TBSP series, "House of Payne".
Tyler has bagged many awards in his career. Recently, he bagged an African-American Film Critics Association Award for "Best Supporting Actor". Apart from this, he has won multiple NAACP Image Awards in the categories of "Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series" and "Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series". Perry also received a BET Award for the category of "Best Movie" for "For Colored Girls"
Tyler's upcoming stage play, "Hall Hath No Fury Like a Woman Scorned", is also set to be featured soon. The play will also mark the comeback of the actress-singer Cheryl Riley. Some other actors include Candice Pyle, Ray Lavender and Zebulon Ellis.
