As soon as the tale begins, a Lord is introduced who comes across a drunkard, Christopher Sly. Thinking of helping the person, he decides to take him home and give him the treatment of a nobleman as soon as he awakes just to see his reaction. The lord himself dresses up like a servant and act in the same way to make Sly believe of him. In addition to his dressing, he makes an effort to influence him by telling that he has recently recovered from illness to which he gives a bored reaction. He refuses to accept that he is the Lord but then when he hears of his wife, who is actually a page boy dressed up in women’s attire, he readily accepts the story told by the men. Having known about his wife, Sly wishes to be left alone with his wife but unfortunately the servants give him the news that a troupe of actors are on their way to meet him just to present the play that happens to be the story of The Taming of the Shrew.

The tale begins in the Italian city, Padua, where a rich young man, Lucentio reaches with Biondello and Tranio, his servants to pursue with higher education. He is excited to begin his studies but his preferences change as soon as he meets Bianca who is a mild and beautiful young girl. Lucentio instantly falls in love with her but can’t marry just because of her father’s condition that her ill mannered, older sister Katherine should be married first. Apart from this, Bianca already has two suitors Gremio and Hortensio that happens to be another obstacle for Lucentio for tying a knot with his love. To counter this, he hits upon a plan and disguises his appearance just to get more close to him. Meanwhile Petruchio is introduced in the story who agrees to marry Katherine just for the sake of money. Before the wedding commences, drama sets in the story and he is majorly insulted by Katherine. This temper still does not affect the wedding plan and the event happens, setting in more action. Petruchio starts showing his real personality to Katherina right after the wedding that surprises the audiences about his characters. On the other hand, Lucentio convinces Bianca of his unconditional love and offers a huge sum of money to lavish on her. This after getting agreed upon by Lucentio’s father leads to ring the wedding bells for the couple.
