The story follows the lives of gamblers and showgirls in New York. Nathan Detroit is a gambler who holds illegal crap games in the neighborhood. However, to run his business at the only place not under authorities’ surveillance, Nathan requires a hefty sum to deposit as per the owner’s request. He engages Sky Masterson, a gambler who bets on just about anything, in a bet that he thinks he will definitely win. The bet is to take a doll, the beautiful and pious Sergeant Sarah Brown who is also a band member of Save-a-Soul Mission, to a dinner in Havana, Cuba. Sky takes up the challenge which turns out to be not as easy as he had presumed.
