The Rutgers Scarlet Knights history dates back to 1860’s when they were founded along with three other school teams. Initially they played as an independent team without any formal affiliation, between 1946 and 1951 they played first along with two other schools in the Middle Three Conference and later joined Middle Atlantic Conference. Now they are the member of the Big East Conference and Eastern Collegiate Wrestling Association and their NCAA Division is 1-A. They actively participate in other sports like lacrosse, swimming, track & Field, field hockey, volleyball, wrestling and also fencing.
