The Warriors in Brief

Six-time NBA Champions, the Golden State Warriors began life in 1946 in Philadelphia. Immediate success followed when they won the inaugural BAA (Basketball Association of America) Championship the following year. Another title win came in 1956 before the team relocated to San Francisco in 1962.

Since inception, the Warriors had been playoff regulars and only missed out on the postseason a handful of times. Led by the likes of Rick Barry and Jamaal Wilkes, they continued to be title contenders after moving to San Francisco and made it to the NBA Finals in 1964 and 1967. However, they ultimately came up short on both occasions.

That changed in 1975 (after taking the name Golden State Warriors in 1971) when they got the better of the Washington Bullets in 4 straight games to cause one of the biggest upsets the NBA has ever seen. Warriors’ fans had to wait quite a while for another NBA title as the team alternated between doing well in the playoffs and missing out for long periods during the next couple of decades.

But the current crop of Warriors superstars have made sure that the wait was well worth it. The previous decade has undoubtedly been the most successful in the history of the franchise with the Warriors winning the NBA title in 3 of the last 4 seasons. And the two-time defending champions are on course to make it a hat-trick of NBA Championships this year.

Apart from the 6 NBA crowns, the Warriors have been Division champions 7 times as well as winners of their Conference on 10 occasions. They are tied on 6 NBA titles with the Chicago Bulls while only the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers have won more.

Some of the greatest players in the history of the game have donned the Warriors jersey over the years. These include the likes of Hall of Famers Tom Gola, Paul Arizin, Neil Johnston, Wilt Chamberlain, Bernard King, Mitch Richmond and Jo Jo White among others. As a franchise, the Warriors are steeped in history. Their Oracle Arena home is the oldest in the whole of the NBA, having opened back in 1966.

Get NBA Western Conference Finals: Golden State Warriors tickets to follow the exploits of the current generation of Warriors led by Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Klay Thompson as they look to cement their status as one of the greatest dynasties in the history of the game.

Unique Records

The Golden State Warriors have a number of NBA records to their name. These include posting the best-ever regular season winning percentage, most wins in a single NBA season (both regular season as well as the playoffs), and the best run ever in the postseason. Their current shooting duo of Curry and Thompson is considered one of the greatest backcourts the game has ever seen.

As per Forbes, the Warriors are one of the most valued sports franchises in the world. With an estimated worth of $3.1 Billion, they rank in the top ten both in the United States and across the world. You can witness some fine displays of on-court basketball by getting NBA Western Conference Finals: Golden State Warriors tickets.

Greatest Triumphs

The Warriors’ 1975 NBA Championship victory remains one of their best ever. During the 1974-75 NBA season, the Washington Bullets were in imperious form posting a 60-22 record. They were almost unbeatable at home and were the firm favorites going into the NBA Finals. However, the Warriors had other ideas and they stunned the hosts in game 1 before prevailing in three more close encounters to take the NBA crown in straight games.

Having made it to 4 consecutive finals and looking set to get there for the 5th straight year, Stephen Curry and company are in full dynasty mode. They have beaten their opponents in the last two NBA Finals quite comfortably and few would bet against them going all the way this time around as well.
