The team played at the home ground of Cleveland Arena with Bill Fitch acting as their head coach however they were unable to maintain a good playing record. It was a star player like Austin Carr who lent much charisma to the team with his awesome scoring records at Notre Dame. However, he couldn't serve the team's interests due to getting injured in the leg. Some other talent players were added in the team and the Cavaliers managed to improve their record by 23-59 in the following season. Further in 1972-73, the club commanded a 32-50 record, but moved back to 29-53 in 1973-74. The Cavaliers shifted to the brand-new Richfield Coliseum in 1974 where they secured a remarkable record of 40-42 a little short of a playoff berth.
Their pursuit of success led them to achieve a division title in the 1975-76 season with players like Smith, Snyder, Carr, Chones and Nate Thurmand who was newly inducted, brought glory to the team. A 49-33 record also fell in their destiny under the dynamic supervision of Coach Fitch. Eventually, Fitch was given league's Coach of the Year award at the same time when Cavaliers appeared in their first-ever playoff. The Washington Bullets were defeated by the club in a series with a score of 4-3. Since the players contributed their best in the games with last-second shots and heroic saves, the title of "Miracle of Richfield" was earned by the series. They failed to maintain their winning streak though and lost to the Boston Celtics in Eastern Conference Finals particularly because of the injuries caused to their star players.
In the next two seasons (1976-77 and 1977-78), the Cleveland Cavaliers won 43 games, however the outcome was of both seasons was early playoff exits. Fitch left his position when the team failed to prove itself after a 3-52 season. They have carried well with their The Cleveland Cavaliers debuted in NBA in 1970 with wine and gold as the team's original jerseys. In the mid-1980s, these were changed to orange and blue while the advent of mid-1990s showed blue, black and orange in the mid-1990s. The Cavaliers jersey was entirely redone in 2003, and darker shades of wine and gold (being the original colors) were adopted. Navy blue color was also added to create a uniform that was more in sync with the times.
The current home jersey of the Cavaliers is white, and the word "Cavaliers" is written on the front in white lettering with gold trim. The back shows the player's name in wine lettering while the player's numbers are printed in navy blue. The sides show gold and wine trim, and the shoes along with socks are also in white. For their road uniform, the wine color is again chosen with the player's numbers all in white lettering along with gold trim. The sides show off gold and white trim complemented with black socks and shoes.

CLEVELAND CAVALIERS NEWS AND UPDATES
The Cavaliers have beaten the Celtics on the road
On Sunday, February 11, 2018 the Cleveland Cavaliers made their way to the TD Garden to take on the Boston Celtics. It was the night when the Celtics retired Paul Pierce’s number 34 but the Cavs were in no mood for celebrations. The Cavs gave debuts to four players on the night and the new look Cavs routed the Celtics 121-99. Larry Nance Jr., George Hill, Rodney Hood and Jordan Clarkson also made their debuts for the Cavaliers and made an impact on their first outing. The Cavaliers were in scintillating form and it will be interesting to see where they go from here.
The Cavaliers blow a 21 point lead against the Magic
The Cleveland Cavaliers took on the Orlando Magic on Tuesday night and were in the ascendency by 21 points deep into the first half. There were 4:50 left in the first half when Jeff Green put the Cavs in front by 61-40. The Magic however roared back and eventually won the game 116-98 to increase the pressure on LeBron and Co. This was the Cavaliers fourteenth loss in the last twenty one games. It has not been a good season for last year’s NBA finalists and they need to do something about their poor form quickly.
The Cleveland Cavaliers Shock the Knicks
The Cleveland Cavaliers wiped off a 23 point deficit to beat the New York Knicks at the Madison Square Garden. The Knicks had taken a 23 point lead in the second quarter and it looked like it was going to be another tough night for the Cavs. But LeBron James decided to take matters into his own hands and recorded 23 points, 9 rebounds and 12 assists to help the Cavs mount a stunning comeback. He hit a three pointer with just two minutes left on the clock to give the Cavs a lead they never surrendered. The 104-101 win should give the Cavs a lot of confidence.
The Cavaliers have now lost to the Hawks
The season just took another turn for the worse for the Cleveland Cavaliers. They were up against the Atlanta Hawks who were 1-8 going into the game. This was Cavs’ chance of putting their season back on track but it just wasn’t meant to be. The Cavs came up short 115-117 which means they have now lost five of their last half a dozen games. This is an alarming drop in form for a team that was one of the favorites to win the NBA Championship this season. Needless to say, they have to bounce back and bounce back quickly if they are to do something this term.
Dwyane Wade to join the Cleveland Cavaliers
One of the most talented players in the NBA, Dwyane Wade, has just announced that he will be leaving the Chicago Bulls to join LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The twelve time All-Star has cleared his NBA waivers and agreed a buyout deal with the Bulls that clears the way for him to make the move to the 2016 NBA Championship finalists. Wade and LeBron have played together before. They were both part of the Miami Heat squad that won the NBA title in 2012 and 2013. The move will be a big blow to the Bulls while the Cavaliers will be excited to see Wade and LeBron team up once again.
Is Kyrie Irving really leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers?
Is Kyrie Irving really leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers? The rumor will has gone into overdrive in the last few days as more than one news outlet is reporting that Irving has told the Cavs he wants to leave. Yes, a lot of players have left teams in the past but this is a strange one. The Cavs have made it to the NBA Finals in each of the last three seasons and have won the title once during that time too. Irving is young and he will be in demand but he is leaving a team that is more or less guaranteed to be fighting for the championship once again next season. Nothing is official yet but it certainly looks as if an announcement will be made soon.
The Cavaliers are 1 game away from the NBA Finals
The Cleveland Cavaliers will head to Boston with a 3-1 lead over the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals, thanks to a stellar performance by Kyrie Irving in game 4. The Cavaliers were trailing the Celtics heading into the third quarter but outscored the Celts 40-23 to eventually win the game 112-99. Irving nailed 21 points out of 42 in the third quarter to put the Cavaliers just one win away from their third straight NBA Final appearance. The series is not done just yet but the Cavaliers are in the driving seat and they should get the job done in Boston.
Cavaliers and Warriors create history
The Cleveland Cavaliers took on the Toronto Raptors in Game 4 of the NBA Conference semifinals and won the clash 109-102 to sweep their Canadian counterparts. The Golden State Warriors were up against the Utah Jazz and they won the game 121-95 to complete their sweep too. What those two results mean is that this is the first time since all the way back in 1989, that two sides have swept both their first two rounds of the playoffs. The Los Angeles Lakers and the Detroit Pistons were the last two teams to do this.
The two best teams in the NBA are raising the bar this year too and the gap between them and the rest of the pack seems to be getting bigger by the day.
The Cavaliers dominate the Celtics
The contest between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics wasn’t supposed to be so one-sided but that it how it transpired. The Cavs and the Celtics headed into the game with identical 50-27 records and this contest was to decide who would enter the playoffs as the top seed from the Eastern Conference. The game itself got off to a slow start but then LeBron hit his stride and the Cavs began to get the upper hand. The final result: a 114-91 win for the current NBA champions. There are only four games remaining in the regular season and while the Celtics can still pip the Cavs to the number spot in the east, it seems unlikely that the Cavaliers will let that happen.
How many games are played in the NBA preseason?
The league allows a team to play a maximum of eight preseason games. The number can be seven or eight depending on the team and their competitors, as they manage the schedule of the games themselves. They decide how many games to play as there is no minimum. Top-notch players may choose to not appear in each one of these games. A number of coaches are of the view that a shorter preseason is better as that would give more opportunities of rest to the players. However no matter what the number, fans love every opportunity they get to catch their favorite players and teams live in action.
