Arizona Cardinals is one of the oldest teams in American Football history. They were established in 1898 and since then they have been playing professional football. The Arizona Cardinals, in the beginning, were based in Chicago but today they are based in Tempe, Arizona. Their home field is the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. They are one of the few American football teams who have been running continuously for such a long time. They are also one of the oldest NFL franchises that are operational till date. The Club, initially known as Chicago Cardinals, was based in Villa Park.
The Cardinals have been the NFL Champions of 1947 and 1925 when they used to be the Chicago Cardinals. They have also appeared in the Super Bowl games with 1967 game being their first Super Bowl game ever. They have eight playoff appearances out of which they were successful six times. They also have six division titles for the years 1947, 1948, 1974, 1975, 2008, and 2009 along with a conference title in 2008.
The Arizona Cardinals have not always been playing in the University of Phoenix Stadium. They just started playing here in 2006 and it has ever since been their home ground. They had been playing in the Sun Devil Stadium before that for almost two decades. The Cardinals have seen a lot of turbulence in terms of their home ground. The stadiums named as Normal Park, Comiskey Park, Busch Stadium and Busch Memorial Stadium are the names of the other stadiums that were once their home grounds. The Jerseys and Logos of the cardinals have also come a long way. They definitely didn't look like this in the beginning. The red colored jerseys came along in 1901 which were usually white before. The Cardinal Bird is also modified into a sleeker parakeet. The Arizona Flag that wasn't there in the beginning has also become a regular part of their uniforms. The Arizona Cardinal colors since the beginning were red and white; the addition of Black has been a recent development.
The Cardinals had an optimistic start as Arizona Cards and the team established themselves as a promising football team with their consistent performances. The team has many years of memorable history behind them and has a long way to go ahead. Each season they are trying to be better than what they were before and it works for them. A team is what its players make it and Arizona Cardinals couldn't be without its legendary quarterbacks, line backers, wide receivers and defensive backs. Some of the prominent names of the 2000s in the Cardinals hall of fame are Thomas Jones, Leonard Davis, Wendell Bryant, Bryant Johnson, Calvin Pace, Larry Fitzgerald, Antrel Rolle, Matt Leinart, Levi Brown, Dominique Rodgers, Beanie Wells and Dan Williams.
It is once again that time of the year when Big Red is on the loose for some real action. The Cardinal diehards are already assembling to see the game that they live for! The Buzzsaw is charged up with big red wings to soar to the heights never touched before. Be there for your team as they want you there and become a part of the history making with Arizona Cardinals tickets today!
Arizona Cardinals’ Rivalries
Seattle Seahawks
This is an up-and-coming rivalry as the Seahawks have not played the Cardinals enough to actually have their competition considered as a rivalry. However, fans of both these teams are displaying their competitiveness with the others at games and on online forums as well. This could be due to their 2016 season showdowns. The division rivals have competed for the number one spot on the NFC West and incredible performances have been displayed as a result. During week 16 of their 2016 divisional round, Michael Floyd of the Cardinals made an impressive and out-of-the-blue touchdown against the Seahawks which left jaws dropped. This crucial point maintained the Cards’ fourteen-game winning streak. This truly is the rivalry to watch out for in the upcoming season
Los Angeles Rams
Since 2012, the Rams and Cardinals have faced off around eleven times with the Cardinals winning most of these. Arizona by far is the stronger team as it is in the lead by 39 points on the scoreboard. However, the Rams have every chance of catching up as they rank third in the NFC West division, while the Cards rank second. The Cardinals’ defense is strong, and marginally better than the Rams’. Therefore, it seems likely that the Cards will maintain their winning streak over Los Angeles. This NFL season will be a crucial one for the Rams as they attempt to usurp their divisional rival for the number one spot.
