Yoann Lemoine, is well known by his stage name, Woodkid . He is a French graphic designer, music video director and also a musician by profession. Some of his most distinguished works comprise his music video direction for the single “Back to December” by Taylor Swift, “Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry, and “Dreaming of Another World”, “Mystery Jets” and “Born to Die” by Lana Del Rey. Woodkid was born on the 16th of May in 1983 in Lyon. He has completed his studies in animation as well as illustration at the Emile Cohl School. He finished his diploma with honors and then soon after he left for London to venture into a silk screen printing procedure program at the Swindon College. In 2004, he relocated himself to Paris. He embarked upon taking a short experience at H5. Later he became a part of Luc Besson’s crew and there he worked on the assignment of Arthur and the Invisibles for an entire year. After this, in 2006, he took the initiative of directing a series of rough shots for Sofia Coppola’s popular Mari Antoinette (the movie).
Woodkid undertook a project for raising awareness for AIDS. In June of 2010, he got 5 Lions for Graffiti which was a campaign for his on AIDS Awareness. He received this acknowledgement for his work at the Cannes Lions Advertising festival. All of his movies are produced by the acclaimed David LaChapelle and Hype William’s, HSI, which is an American production company. In 2012, he received an award in the category of Best Director of the Year at the popular MVPA Awards which were held in Los Angeles.
When Woodkid released his first EP titled as Iron EP, which came out on the 28th of March in 2011, for the music video of the EP he partnered with the famous English model known as Agyness Deyn. This song of his was featured in a short trailer for Assassin’s Creed: Revelations of Ubisoft. On the 15th of October he sang live onstage with the singer, Lana Del Rey in a music event held in New York City. He also made the video for her mega hit single, "Born to Die". On the 15th of December in 2011, Woodkid gave an announcement about his starting off with his debut recording on his Facebook page. The album was given the title of The Golden Age. This talented musician has verified many of the track titles for this album of his via his Twitter account. Some of the track titles include "Run Boy Run" (this is also the first song on the album), "The Golden Age", "Ghost Light", "Whispers", "Stabat Mater" and "The Shore". He mentioned in an interview with the media that he plans on releasing the album in the September of 2012. Moreover, the famous French couture brand of Dior Homme’s collection of Fall-Winter 2013 "A Soldier on My Own" has taken its inspiration from his Iron EP. The fashion collection has also been named after the song’s lyrics. For the show of Dior Homme, the song will be used as their soundtrack as well.
