Two Feet – Genre Bending Done Just Right
The distinctive, soulful, music of Bill Dess made him an overnight star – literally. A dropout from Berklee College of Music, whilst crashing on a friend’s couch, Dess recorded a song on a mic that was taped on a wall above his makeshift bed. He uploaded it on the music sharing website SoundCloud, sometime after midnight and went to sleep. When he woke up, both the track “Go Fuck Yourself” and Dess were famous.
Two Feet, a stage name that Dess adopted later was soon approached by several recording labels. He signed with Republic Records and released his first EP “First Steps” in 2016, followed by “Momentum” in 2017. He later embarked on an extensive tour that stretched his fan base far and wide.
Seamlessly blending genres, Two Feet uses his influence of the classic Chicago sounds – trap and hip-hop to create unique compositions. His eclectic fusion of electronic music, blues, jazz and soul lured in a diverse audience, who didn’t hesitate to buy Two Feet tickets for his debut tour. He beautifully balances nostalgic, breathy vocals with heavy guitar riffs, bass grooves and rhythmic flourishes, transporting the listeners to musical ecstasy.
Two Feet Presents a Full-Bodied Sound
2018 was a big year for Two Feet. He released two singles “I Feel Like I’m Drowning” and “Same Old Song,” the former peaking at number three spot on the Billboard Alternative charts.
Soulful beats, articulate rhythms and silky vocals, Two Feet swept the listeners off their feet. Boasting of an intense powerful sound, he was able to create music that his fans could not just relate to but also be inspired by and uplifted. This self-confident, 25-year old singer is casual in his appearance but striking in live performance.
With no full album to his credit yet, Bill Dess has been able to grow his following by releasing a couple songs only. Performances at the prestigious Bonnaroo and popular festivals like Lightning in a Bottle, SXSW and Austin City Limits have also helped making him an international sensation.
Delivering a polish set, he has so far opened all of his concerts with the song “Love is a Bitch” and proving himself to be a talented instrumentalist with the rendition of “Quick Musical Doodles”. Connecting with the crowd, he keeps up a constant banter, telling his childhood stories and even talking about his family. Displaying incredible musicianship, Two Feet flawlessly performs his unreleased tracks and the ease with which he handles covers proves his adaptability.
In 2019 he will be joining Panic! at the Disco on their “Pray for the Wicked Tour,” an extended run that will start in January and stretch well into February. If you’re a fan then keep an eye out for more solo shows by the star, and he will certainly not disappoint you with his charisma, talent and melodious music.
