The Human League is a popular band that was formed back in the city of Sheffield in the UK in 1977. This band plays electronic new wave music and was a massive hit back in the 80s. It is still a hit even today and many fans of good electronic music still listen to tunes created by this band back in the good ol’ 80s. One of the best albums by this spectacular band was the 1981 hit album, Dare. By 1987, the band had turned into a trio of sorts and was made up of Philip Oakey, Susan Ann Sulley and Joanne Catherall. This band has influenced many of today’s legends and some of the artists and bands influenced by the Human League are Madonna, Moby, La Roux, Pet Shop Boys, Parralox and Little Boots. This band’s music has also been covered by the likes of Craig David, KMFDM, George Michael and Robbie Williams. The Human League has released around nine albums, four EPs and around twenty nine hit singles. Four of the band’s albums have made it to the top ten in the UK charts and the band has played at over three hundred concerts. In terms of sales, The Human League has sold over twenty million albums.
The B-52s are a popular rock band originating from the city of Athens in the state of Georgia. This American rock group was formed back in 1976 and its lineup is presently made up of Fred Schneider as a vocalist and playing the cowbell, Kate Pierson on vocals and playing keyboards, Cindy Wilson on vocals and playing both the tambourine and the bongos, Ricky Wilson playing the guitar and Keith Strickland as the drummer. The band has been playing live music and releasing albums since the golden 80s with no sign of stopping. The Fixx is a British rock band that was formed back in 1979 in the capital of the UK, London. This band is best known for the hit singles One Thing Leads to Another, Stand or Fall, Red Skies, Saved by Zero, Are We Ourselves?, Sign of Fire, Secret Separation, How Much Is Enough?, Driven Out, and Deeper & Deeper. The Fixx have released around nine albums with their latest release slated for an upcoming date. The Fixx’s albums include 1982’s Shuttered Room, 1983’s Reach the Beach, 1984’s Phantoms, 1986’s Walkabout, 1989’s Calm Animals, 1991’s Ink, 1998’s Elemental, 1999 1011 Woodland and 2003’s Want That Life. Their latest album, Beautiful Friction, is slated for a 2011 release. One of the band’s best songs, One Thing Leads to Another has appeared a lot in media. It is part of the TV series Knight Rider, the video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, the TV show Lie to Me and the horror film The House of the Devil. This means that The Fixx are truly an icon of the 80s for one song to be featured so heavily in movies, games and TV shows.
Berlin is renowned American new wave band that was formed back in 1978 with vocalists John Crawford and Terri Nunn. This band is best known for the hit single, Take My Breath Away, that topped the Billboard charts and was part of the movie, Top Gun. Some of the band’s other hit singles include The Metro, No More Words and Sex (I'm A...).
