About Tool

Career Highlights

Tool released their debut album Undertow in 1993. It had more of a heavy metal sound as compared to their later drift towards alternative metal. The album sold close to 3 million copies in the United States, earning a double Platinum certification from the RIAA.

This was followed by the release of Ænima in 1996 which made it to number 2 on the US Billboard 200. It was eventually certified triple Platinum by the RIAA and also broke into the top 10 in Australia, Canada and New Zealand. Ænima also brought Tool the first of their multiple Grammys.

Subsequent albums Lateralus (2001) and 10,000 Days (2006) continued on their journey of success, reaching number 1 on the US Billboard 200 while also topping charts in Australia and Canada. Lateralus was certified double Platinum while 10,000 Days got Platinum from the RIAA.
