Alternative rock was introduced during the 1980s by musicians who chose to experiment with new styles and sounds. It started off from among college crowds and underground music bands and came to be known as alternative rock. During the 1990s its popularity increased among the mainstream audience and today there are numerous alternative rock musicians whose songs fans love to listen, especially in a live setting.
