Tesla Tickets
Long before the heavy metal act Tesla started rocking the world with its electrifying tunes, the original Tesla had already rocked the globe with his electrifying currents and was on the verge of streaming them through the atmosphere for everyone to consume freely. Nikola Tesla was and still is the greatest inventor that ever lived. It is his invention of alternating current as well as the means of generating it that currently powers the world and its communications, which grew out from his original model of the modern radio. Most importantly, he had perfected a means of tapping into the virtually limitless reservoir of electrical charges in the atmosphere and then beaming free wireless electricity to homes all over. However, his ultimate electrifying gift to the world was starved of funding by the banker J P Morgan who deemed it as a threat to the profits that his company General Electric would reap in the decades to come. The hair metal band Tesla has been churning out its fair share of impactful songs in the past three decades and has honored the contributions of Nikola Tesla by not just adopting his name but also using his technological creations as inspiration for their musical material. They have sold more than 14 million records in the US alone and even released their music via their record label aptly titled Tesla Electric Company Recordings. Claiming some Tesla tickets will enable you to be energized by their hair-raising melodies.

The band was spawned in the early eighties as City Kidd in Sacramento, California and after renaming itself Tesla, started fashioning an identity that became rooted in the genre of hair metal music. With the original lineup comprising of Jeff Keith on vocals, Tommy Skeoch and Frank Hannon on the guitars , Brian Wheat gunning the bass and Troy Luccketta on the drums, the band was signed on to Geffen Records and released their debut album in Mechanical Resonance in 1986. The album, apart from clanging out Tesla's definitive heavy metal sound, peaked at the 32nd spot on Billboard 200 and rose to number 38 across the Atlantic on the UK Albums chart. Tesla scored their first Billboard Hot 100 hit with "Little Suzi" that became a top-40 single on the US Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, as did "Modern Day Cowboy".
With Mechanical Resonance being certified platinum, the follow-up album The Great Radio Controversy climbed to number 18 on Billboard 200 and is Tesla's best-selling album to date, earning a double-platinum certification. It posted two US Mainstream Rock top-40 hits and its track "Love Song" became the acts first top-ten song on both Billboard Hot 100 as well as the US Mainstream Rock charts. The song was a throwback to the utopian notions of the hippie era and dialed down the band's signature power ballad sound, opting for a more laid back one. The album's name itself refers to the common misconception of the Italian Guglielmo Marconi being credited with the invention of the radio and correctly acknowledges Nikola Tesla's role in the development and patenting of radio technology via a written account on the inside of the album's sleeve.
Tesla's 1991 album Psychotic Supper was their highest-charting studio album, climbing to the 13th spot on Billboard 200 and had three of its tracks go top-twenty on the US Mainstream Rock Tracks charts and scored a top-ten single in "What You Give". Other notable records include 1994's Bust a Nut, 2004's Into the Now, 2007's Reel to Reel and 2008's Forever More that peaked at the 20th, 31st, 48th and 33rd spots on the Billboard 200 respectively. They collectively entailed 9 tracks to break into the top-40 slot of the US Mainstream Rock chart, with "Mama's Fool" from Bust a Nut reaching a high of 5. However, it was the live album Five Man Acoustical Jam that the band had put out in 1990 that despite stripping down their signature sound of charged theatrics proved to be their most popular work, climbing to number 12 on the Billboard 200.
From their early years, Tesla has been an actively touring band and has taken to the road with some of the biggest names in the business, namely Alice Cooper, Poison, David Lee Roth and Def Leppard. Tesla started out as a robust pillar of hard rock and heavy metal and has endured the changing tides of music. So book some Tesla tickets to be jolted back to life by their sizzling melodies and power-packed performance.
