The rock band Steve Miller was formed in 1996 and is famous for its classic rock radio songs released during the late 1970s. The band was founded by the lead vocalist Steve Miller and included guitarist James Cooke, bassist Lonnie Turner while Tim Davis played the drums. The band was first called ‘Steve Miller Blues Band’ but was later shortened to ‘Steve Miller Band’ after it signed a deal with Capitol Records in 1967.
Steve Miller Band came up with its debut album “Children of the Future” in 1968 to good reviews. They took the music scene by storm with the release of their second studio album “Sailor” that peaked to number 24 on the Billboard 200 chart and produced the hit singles “Living in the USA”. Their third album “Brave New World” released in 1969 and spawned an array of blockbuster tracks including “My Dark Hour” and “Space Cowboy”.
The success continued with the release of chartbusting albums “Your Saving Grace” that climbed to number 38 on Billboard 200 chart and “Number 5” that peaked to number 23 on Billboard 200.
The band got their big break with the rock album “The Joker” that hit the shelves in 1973. It was loved by the fans and topped the Billboard 200 chart. The album’s title track was platinum certified and reached number one spot on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The success followed with the release of his album “Hillbilly Rock” under MCA records with its title track among the top 10 hits on the Country chart. The title track of his next album “Tempted” released in 1991 also became a hit.
One of his biggest hit is the song “The Whiskey Ain’t Workin’” which Miller co–wrote with Travis Tritt in 1991.
