Snoh’s Initial Inclination towards Music
Snoh Aalegra was only nine years of age when she began writing and singing her own songs. She was ready for any opportunity that allowed her to showcase her talent. Be it family gatherings or her classmates at school, she entertained everyone with her amazing vocals. Eventually she took part in a local talent show in her hometown and won it by performing one of her songs. Despite being very young, Snoh was very sure that it was music that she wanted to do professionally. At fourteen years old, she signed her first contract with a renowned music publishing company and began spending most of her weekends and after-school hours in the recording studio.
In the year 2009 Snoh Aalegra began working on her debut studio record titled First Sign. It was released the following year under the mononym Sheri. The album received a positive response in Sweden and earned her a loyal fan following. It was supported by singles such as Smooth Operator, U Got Me Good, Hit and Run and First Sign.
In July 2014, the singer changed her stage name to Snoh Aalegra and worked on a song with Common. The track Hustle Harder featured on Common’s music record Nobody’s Smiling. Later, Snoh signed a deal with the Epic Records under which she released her debut EP There Will Be Sunshine in November 2014. The EP features six songs one of which is a collaborative number with Common called Bad Things. In 2015, the Swedish singer dropped the single Emotional and in April 2016 she released her second Extended Play tiled Don’t Explain. The album featured a total of nine songs two of which were released as singles – In Your River and Under the Influence.
Snoh Aalegra treated the fans with her debut studio album Feels in October of 2017. The collection received commercial success as well as critical acclaim. It featured collaborative songs such as Sometimes with Logic and Nothing Burns Like the Cold with Vince Staples. The singer followed up its success with singles such as Home (remix) which had a guest verse by Logic and Out of Your Way which had Luke James in guest appearance.
In August 2019, Snog Aalegra released the studio effort Ugh, those feels again. One of its most popular songs is I Want You Around which hit the 19th position on the Swedish Singles chart. The singer’s vulnerable lyrical content and sultry vocals have led her to become one of the most prominent acts in the new movement of R&B and neo-soul.
Snoh wrote the album Ugh, those feels again when she returned to dating following a long and serious relationship that she characterized as ‘exhausting’ and ‘depressing.’ She is excited to be back in the mood and is open to all the complications that come with being involved with someone. The song I Want You Around is fast gaining popularity. It captures the essence of a fast-evolving relationship. Another song Situationship carries emotions of frustration and curiosity.
After a successful Ugh, a Mini Tour in 2019, Snoh Aalegra is all set for her headlining Ugh, A Tour Again in 2020. The outing will start with a show in Vancouver on March 13, 2020. It will then hit several notable cities across North America. These include New Orleans, Toronto, Boston, Dallas, Los Angeles and Seattle among others. As of now, the trek is scheduled to wrap up on April 24 in Denver. While Aalegra will be supporting her newest record Ugh, those feels again, QUIN will be promoting material from her new EP Lucid.
