How Was Slander Formed?
Initially, Derek Anderson used to perform as a DJ for his fraternity parties, where he only played house music. Later, he teamed up with Scott Land, and both started playing music mostly to entertain their friends. One day, while performing at a beach party for their friends, the magnetic duo realized that they had found their true passion – and since then they haven’t looked back. Through their fraternity’s network and connections, they managed to perform at every major club in the city, and their fresh take on house music was loved by the audience. Soon, they were able to make their mark in the dance and trap music scene.
Stealing the Limelight
Most people are drawn to Slander due to their addictive beats, heartfelt production, and electric performances. Their meticulous fusion of bone shaking drops and emotional lyricism have helped them build a massive fan following. Slander’s commitment to their craft has helped them earn the support of several other artists including Porter Robinson, Bassnectar, Diplo, RL Grime, DJ Snake, and Skrillex.
Kings of Heaven Trap
Land and Anderson are known for producing trap music – something that they refer to as ‘trapstyle.’ From downright and dirty festival-style head bangers, to unique and addictive heaven trap, Slander has been experimenting a lot with musical styles and elements, and this creativity has helped them stand out from the rest.
Taking Trapstyle Worldwide
Apart from dozens of hit remixes, their original track ‘Love Again,’ is probably one of their most notable hits that has been listened to more than ten million times. Since dropping this phenomenal beat, Slander has shown no signs of slowing down and has conquered all major music festivals worldwide, thanks to their incredible music. Some of the biggest festivals that they have performed at include the Ultra Music Festival, Electric Zoo, Tomorrowland, and Lollapalooza.
Collaborations and Touring with Other Musicians
Slander has accompanied their fellow musicians and best friend, NGHTMRE, on the Gud Vibrations tour. As part of this tour, they performed at several historical venues such as The Fillmore, Playstation Theater, The Observatory, Ogden Theater, Concord Music Hall, and the Hollywood Palladium. In 2015, Slander and NGHTMRE released an extended play together – it was called Nuclear Bonds. They have also collaborated with Jinzo and Yookie on the song ‘After All,’ and with Basstrick on the single ‘Drop It.’
If you love partying, head-banging, and dancing, then you cannot afford to miss out on their upcoming concert. So buy your Slander tickets in advance and prepare to have a blast!
