Who are The Black Keys?
The Black Keys are an American rock band consisting of Dan Auerbach on guitars and vocals and Patrick Carney on drums. The duo initially began making music as an independent act, recording music on their own and producing their own records. Soon after this, they emerged as a popular garage rock group in the 2010s. And since then, their success has known no bounds.
Auerbach and Carney had been friends since childhood and dropped out of college together to pursue their dreams in music. Soon after entering the music industry and gaining some initial attention, they signed on with the indie label, Alive. Following this, they released their debut album called The Big Come Up. With the release of this album, the group landed a recording deal with Fat Possum Records. Over the next few years, the group built a strong fan base in the underground scene, through extensive touring of small clubs, music festival appearances and frequent album releases.
The Music of The Black Keys
The American rock band has released eight studio albums, 20 singles, two EPs and a live album over the past years. After the release of their third album, Rubber Factory in 2004, the group managed to achieve widespread critical acclaim, leading to their signing on with the major label, Nonesuch Records. The Black Keys’ commercial success truly came after the release of their 2010 album, Brothers. The album, along with the single “Tighten Up” won the group three Grammy Awards.
The next album, El Camino, released in 2011 also performed well on the charts, peaking at number two on the Billboard 200 chart. This was followed by the first arena tour by the band called the El Camino Tour. The album, along with the hit single “Lonely Boy” won three Grammy Awards. The Black Keys’ eight studio album, Turn Blue, was released in 2014 and shot to number one in the US, Australia and Canada.
