Seether was originally formed in Johannesburg, South Africa by Dale and Morgan. It was previously known as Saron Gas and their first ever album, "Fragile" was released only in South Africa. The ensemble made an impact in the US with the release of their second album, "Disclaimer". It contained some of the band’s most well-known songs which would remain Seether’s trademark singles. "Fine Again", "Gasoline" and "Driven Under" were all massive hits and managed to make a strong impact on their new US audience. In the same year the band gained an exclusive spot in the prestigious, Ozzfest tour.
After the widespread success of Disclaimer, Morgan and his mates started working on a follow-up album and in 2004, the re-mastered and remixed "Disclaimer 2" was released to eager fans which was immediately certified platinum. Later on, the 2005 album, "Karma & Effect" solidified the band’s image as that of a hard rock ensemble and was packed with intense singles like "The Gift", "Remedy" and "Truth". Among these Remedy became Seether’s first number one hit by charting at the top position in the US Mainstream Rock Chart.
Seether went on to release a total of five albums all of which were certified gold or above. The 2007 album, "Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces" clinched the 9th spot in the Billboard chart. The first single "Fake It" held the top spot in the Modern and US Mainstream Rock Charts for a period of nine weeks consecutively. The success of this album was followed by a mega tour in which guitarists were hired from top bands like Evanescence and Dark New Day. In this tour, Seether shared the stage with some of the best bands of the country including Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Flyleaf, Three Doors Down and Crush. Most recently in 2010, Seether managed to break new grounds with their latest album, "Holding onto Strings Better Left to Fray" which landed the 2nd position in the US Billboard 200. Each new album by the band always turns out to be better than the last one and this new release is no exception.
Throughout their career, Seether has won numerous awards and honors. In 2008, they won their first major prize when they were named ‘Best Alternative Artist’ at the MTV Africa Music Awards. Other accolades for the band include the South African Music Award for the category of ‘Best Rock : English’. The rapid single week sales of their latest record led to Billboard naming Seether as the No. 1 Heritage Rock Band and No. 1 Active Rock Artist of 2011. Apart from these, last year the ensemble was also nominated for Radio Contraband and the Revolver Golden Gods Award.
Those who would attend the Seethers concert would have the chance to listen to the smooth and gritty vocals of Morgan, slick guitar solos and ground pounding basses. These South-African natives have successfully managed to carve their very own brand of music which is composed of ominous heavy rock and bluesy music. They are known for their ability to rock the roof off in a live performance so to be in the lucky ones and attend their upcoming concerts purchase your Seether tickets without any further delay.
