Saves the Day is a band that originated from Princeton, New Jersey. It was founded by lead singer and rhythm guitarist Chris Conley along with three other musician friends. Since then the band has gone through numerous lineup changes with Conley being the only permanent member of Saves the Day. Other current members are Arun Bali on backing vocals and lead guitars, Rodrigo Palma on bass and Dennis Wilson on drums.
The band mainly plays music in genres like emo, indie rock, pop punk and power pop. Interesting thing to note is that till date the band has been able to record only two albums with the same lineup as the band members kept on changing. Chris Conley is a fine musician who hails from New Jersey. He can fluently play guitar and is a brilliant singer as well. Conley is influenced from the music of acclaimed groups and artists like Led Zeppelin, The Smiths, Borilla Biscuits, Archers of Loafs, The smashing Pumpkins and Sunny Day Real Estate.
Saves the Day initially started as "Sefler" with initial members being Chris Conley, Justin Gaylord, Chris Zampella and Bryan Newman. Soon the name was changed to Saves the Day and the first album was released by Equal Vision Records that was titled Can’t Slow Down. This album contained 14 tracks including "Three Miles Down," "Seeing It This Way," "Always Teen Feet Tall," "Houses and Billboards," "Handsome Boy" and "Sometimes, "New Jersey."
The very next year another album was released by the band that was called Through Being Cool. This album mainly focused on genres like pop punk and emo. It contained some fine tracks like "Shoulder to the Wheel," "Rocks Tonic Juice Magic," "Do You Know What I Love the Most?," "The Last Lie I Told" and "Banned from the Back Porch." It was ranked among the top ten most influential albums of 1999 by Alternative Press.
Since 2001, Saves the Day has released more albums like Stay What You Are, In Reverie, Sound the Alarm, Under the Boards and Daybreak. The latest album till date is Daybreak which was released in 2011 by Razor & Tie Records. The upcoming album by the band will be self-titled. Apart from this the band has released EPs like I’m Sorry I’m Leaving and Bug Sessions Vol 1 2 3. Some popular singles of Saves the Day are "Shoulder to the Wheel," "Anywhere With You," "Can’t Stay the Same," "The End" and "Deranged & Desperate." Music videos were also made of songs like "At Your Funeral," "The End," "Freakish" and "Anywhere with You." The upcoming album will contain eleven tracks focusing on power pop and punk pop. It will be released by Equal Vision Records.
