Who is Salt-N-Pepa?

Salt-N-Pepa is the group behind hit songs such as “Shoop”, “Whatta Man” and “Let’s Talk About Sex”. After signing on to a label called Next Plateau Records, the group released its first album called Hot, Cool and Vicious” in December 1986. Since then, the group has released a total of five albums, with the latest one being Brand New, released in 1997. Their 1993 album, Very Necessary, was their most successful album to date, certified 5x Platinum in the US and 4x Platinum in Canada. The album peaked at number 4 on the US Billboard Albums Charts.

Awards and Nominations

Over the years, the all girl hip hop group has gotten a lot of nominations and has won several prestigious awards. Salt-N-Pepa has been nominated for five American Music Awards and four Grammy Awards. They also won a Grammy Award in the category of the Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for “None Of Your Business”. Besides that, the group has won three MTV Video Music Awards and one Soul Train Lady of Soul Award.
