Born in 1973 in New Hampshire, Raymond Charles Jack LaMontagne is a renowned artist who started composing music in 1999. It was after the singer relocated to Lewiston that he decided to write music. Ray was hugely inspired by the singer, Stephen Stills. Influenced by his album “Manassas,” Ray composed ten tracks for his demo and started performing at local venues. During this time, he was approached by Jonathan Edwards and John Gorka to perform as their opening act. It was during these performances, that Ray became acquainted with the Chrysalis Music Publishing. In 2004, the singer signed a recording contract with the company and released his debut release, “Trouble.”

The album sold over 500,000 copies and received and 3.5 out of 5 star rating by AllMusic. In 2005, Ray was seen performing songs from this release at the Austin City Limits music festival. His sophomore album, “Till the Sun Turns Back,” gained more popularity. It sold over 28,000 copies in the first week alone. It also reached the 28th place on the US Billboard 200. Ray produced hit singles such as “Till the Sun Turns Back”, “Three More Days” and “Barfly.” Throughout this career, the musician has released five studio albums, with his most recent album being “Supernova” of 2014.
