Pacific Northwest Ballet Tickets
If music is food for the soul, ballet is food for the senses. Anyone akin to the magnificence of ballet would second the notion that ballet involves audio and visual senses as it does one’s sixth sense. In the early seventies the Seattle Opera Association set out to establish a new ballet company. In 1972, the Pacific Northwest Ballet came into being. The reigns of this project where held by some very able minded and visionary artists. Janet Reed had been the Ballet Mistress of a rising Seattle ballet school. She would soon follow suite at the ballet company for a period of two years. In addition she also became the director of the company and gave it the much needed push in the right direction. Leon Kalimos was the Executive Director and gave the ballet company its solid foundation alongside Janet. Soon after Janet Reed stepped down, Melissa Hayden took the post of School Director and Ballet Mistress. The poise and attitude of the leadership was so focused on success and perfection that only three years into its existence, the company acquired the Nutcracker, which was at the time one of the most recognizable and critically acclaimed repertory of the great Lew Christensen. The initial name of the company was the Pacific Northwest Dance Association which was changed to the present name in 1977 once the company became an independent organization.
