A Tough Start
Hailing from Old Hickory in Tennessee, Nate Bargatze worked as a water-meter reader before quitting his job to pursue his passion for comedy. He moved to Chicago in 2002 and started working at a local bar. He also enrolled at the famous improvisation hub Second City that has been home to many renowned comedians and members of the iconic Saturday Night Live show. After some months Nate found his calling in standup comedy so he headed out on his journey. He relocated to New York and Nate honed his skills by performing at different comedy clubs.
Reaping the Rewards
Hard work finally paid off when Nate Bargatze landed an opportunity to perform at the “Late Night with Conan O’ Brien” in 2008 and 2009. A year later, Nate participated in the New York Comedy Festival and Boston Comedy Festival. He was well-received by the audience who enjoyed every bit of his jokes and craved for more. With such an overwhelming response, Nate won both the festivals that paved the path for greater success.
Quite impressively, he got his own Comedy Central Presents Special Show in 2011 that attracted large audiences. This called for a debut stand-up album so Nate came up with “Yelled At By A Clown” through Aspecialthing Records in 2012. The album peaked to number 2 on the Billboard Comedy Albums chart, catapulting Nate to fame.
