Mr Bungle’s self titled debut album was released in 1991 and received positive reviews. The record incorporated free jazz, carnival music, ska, funk and metal. They released their sophomore album, Disco Volante, in 1995. This album included influences from electronic, jazz and avant-garde music. The band supported this album with their first world tour and performed across Australia, Europe and North America in 1995 and 1996. In 1999, they released their third album, California, which received positive reviews from the critics.

Artistry and Legacy

Mr Bungle’s music is considered unique and incorporates unusual vocals, unconventional instruments, a wide variety of genres and unpredictable song formats. Some of the genres they utilized included circus music, progressive rock, death metal, folk, avant-jazz, punk, funk and heavy metal. Mr Bungle’s music has influenced many bands, including Twelve Foot Ninja, System of a Down, Korn and Bloodhound Gang.
