A native of Indiana, Epps’s comedic talents were initially noticed when he appeared on the Def Comedy Jam Tour in 1995 and later on HBOs Def Comedy Jam broadcasts. The big break he had been looking for however came when he was spotted by none other than Ice Cube at one of his performances at LA’s Comedy Store. Epps has never looked back since.

American comedian Michael Eugene Mike Epps was born on November 18, 1970. Being such a multi talented person, he can be described as a successful actor, musician, singer, writer, film producer and rapper apart from being an extraordinary stand-up comedian. His work that earned him the name that he has today includes his character as Day-Day Jones in the movie Next Friday and Friday-After-Next, All About The Benjamins, Open Season 2 and Open Season 3 where he was known as the new voice of Boog. He has recently been the Executive Producer of a film named Napoleon: Life of an Outlaw, a movie focused on the life story of a former member of rapper Tupac Shakur’s hip hop band named Outlawz.

Mike Epps’ talent became known even when he was a teenager, and used to live in Indianapolis, Indiana. He started performing as a stand-up comedian at local shows and won some fame, before moving to Atlanta to pursue a career at Comedy Act Theater. While working there, he became aware of better opportunities at New York City for his career, and finally decided to relocate to New York in 1995. New York welcomed him with a role at Def Comedy Jam first, while later he also starred in Def Comedy Jam Tour as his work became more mature and gained further in terms of popularity. Two of his Def Comedy Jam performances were broadcasted on HBO as well.

Apart from establishing himself as a marvelous stand-up comedian, Mike Epps also exhibited some other talents that he had, including that as an actor. His obscured qualities as an actor were discovered by famous rapper and singer Ice Cube, who invited him to work in his movie Next Friday that claimed great box office success. There, he played role of Day-Day Jones that was appreciated very much by the viewers. He also made an appearance in an episode of The Sopranos in 1999, before working in 3 Strikes and Bait. His career as an actor blossomed in early 2000s, as his voice role as Sonny in Dr. Dolittle 2 became a huge box office success. It was followed by a comical role as a pimp named Baby Powder in How High and All About The Benjamins where he worked with Ice Cube again. People liked it very much, encouraging the two stars to work again, that manifested in Next Friday’s Sequel named Friday After Next in 2002.

Mike Epps has also performed various voice roles that have won him much fame, including that of a bear named Boog in movies Open Season 2 and Open Season 3. In most of the characters that Epps played in Ice Cube’s movies, a peculiar style of his humor remained quite prominent, that features comical roles smoking marijuana.

Many shows that this great artist has hosted include BET Hip Hop Awards in 2009 as well as in 2010. Another important feature of Epps’ performances has been his magnificent singing abilities. His parts in Hurricane Chris’s song "A Bay Bay" and in Jim Jone and Skull Gang’s "Trying to be a Gangsta" have been appreciated widely. In 2008 he released a song Big Girls that was a remake of a song by Bow Wow.
