On January 17, 2020, Matoma uploaded a video on YouTube of himself performing an acoustic version of his collaborative song with Wilder Woods entitled, Keep It Simple. On the other hand, Two Friends shared their new song, No Drama which featured Kid Quill and New Beat Fund. It was uploaded on the duo’s SoundCloud page on January 31, 2020. Matoma and Two Friends have planned a very special tour. The two have established themselves as one of the hottest acts of EDM and they will be showing just how good they are at what they do when they perform in your city next. Matoma got into music at an early age and learned piano during his childhood years. With the passage of time, he perfected his piano playing skills and even won a contest which earned him a chance to perform with notable Norwegian pianist Leif Ove Andsnes and HåvardGimse. He eventually became tired of classical piano which led to him mixing on his computer. This resulted in him producing music on his PC by using different DAWs before settling on Cubase 8 Pro.
While experimenting with the software, Matoma crafted his signature sound and released the song, Free Fallin Tropical Mojito Remix (John Mayer Tribute) on his 23rd birthday. Following the release of that track, he was then asked to remix the Marlon Roudette’s song, When the Beat Drops by the Universal Germany.He released the track in July, 2014. He then remixed Old Thing Back by The Notorious B.I.G. which helped him bring some international recognition. This track landed at the 24th spot on the Dance/Electronic Songs chart and was certified silver by the BPI.
Matoma came out with his debut studio record, ‘HakunaMatoma’ on November 13, 2015. The record contained original as well as remix version of popular songs. It produced seven singles including, False Alarm which became a big hit in Europe, landing at the third spot in Norway and was certified gold in the United Kingdom.
After three years, Matoma returned with his next studio project, ‘One in a Million.’ This effort brought him some popularity in the United States and reached at the seventeenth spot on the Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. It also contained guest appearances by Enrique Iglesias, James Newman, Becky Hill, Noah Cyrus and The Vamps.
Founded by two high school friends, Eli Sones and Matthew Halper, Two Friends started producing music during the early 2010s and released their first extended play, ‘You (Me)’ on February 5, 2013. The record featured two songs, Feel Me and Your Song. A year later, the guys remixed Born to Die by Lana Del Rey which became a huge hit and garnered significant airplay on SiriusXM’s EDM Station ‘BPM.’ They then spawned two of their original songs, Overdose and Forever which were issued by Armada Music. Both of these tracks received millions of hits on SoundCloud, Spotify and other streaming services. The duo was also honored with the ‘Award of Independent Excellence’ from Hollywood Music in Media Awards.
On February 24, 2017, Two Friends dropped their sophomore EP, ‘Out of Love.’ It contained two highly popular hits, Pacific Coast Highway and Out of Love. Following the release of this extended play, the guys went on to perform at different festivals including, Terminal 5 and Electric Forest Festival.
Matoma and Two Friends are now heading out on tour and would be starting the trek by performing their first concert at the Shrine at Foxwoods in Mashantucket on February 4, 2020. From there, they will go on to make stops in cities inclduing Boston, Toronto, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Denver and Phoenix.
