Green Day currently consists of three members including drummer Tre Cool, bassist Mike Dirnt and guitarist/lead vocalist Billie Joe Armstrong. It formed in 1986 and there are probably some facts you did not know about the rock band.

Initial Name

The name of the band was not always Green Day. Initially the band was formed as Sweet Children by childhood friends Mike Dirnt and Billie Joe Armstrong. John Kiffmeyer became the drummer of their group after they did their first concert in California.

There's A Fourth Member

Jason White is a touring member of the group since 1999 and is also the lead vocalist of Armstrong's band, Pinhead Gunpowder.

Mysterious Side Projects

Green Day has been notorious for creating side projects and then not associating with them. The band has a history of shutting down all the rumors which create an association between Green Day and its side projects. They prefer keeping some of their side projects as a secret for unknown reasons.
