The Doobie Brothers: A Rock Band Par Excellence
For the past five decades, The Doobie Brothers have given rock fans around the world some of the greatest songs in the genre. Coming to the fore in 1970 in San Jose, they soon established themselves as one of the premier acts on California’s rock landscape.
Over time, the group has evolved from a mellow, post-hippie act to a refined, soul-inflected rock band. The one common thread through the years and decades has been their emphasis on vocal harmonies. This is quite evident in the various Gold and Platinum albums that The Doobie Brothers have racked up over the years.
The Doobie Brothers released their self-titled debut album in 1971. A year later, the group released Toulouse Street, their first Platinum album and second overall. In 1973, The Captain and Me came out. Surpassing the success of its predecessor, the record was certified Double Platinum by the RIAA and was ranked number 7 on the Billboard 200.
The 1970s were a great decade for The Doobie Brothers who produced one hit album after another. Apart from the records mentioned earlier, What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits (1974), Stampede (1975) and Minute by Minute (1978) were some other hugely successful albums during the 70s. Since then, the band has released hits like Cycles (1989), World Gone Crazy (2010) and Southbound (2014).
The Doobie Brothers have won multiple Grammys and are Vocal Group Hall of Fame inductees. The upcoming tour will be a grand celebration and you can be a part of it by getting Doobie Brothers Gilford tickets.
