Creed emerged in 1995, in Florida, led by the singer Scott Strap and the guitarist Mark Tremonti. The bassist Brian Marshall and the drummer Scott Phillips also became a part of the band soon. It came up with nice songs with melodious and inspirational tones which people just loved. Many considered it to be a Christian band because of the spiritual and inspirational songs which were sung by the band. Also, because of the literal meaning of the word 'creed (belief)' people anticipated that. But they denied the fact and cleared it to everyone.
A blue collar rock, My Own Prison was released in 1997, and was a huge success. Not much later, its second release 'Human Clay' was the most massive success, selling 11 million plus copies, topped the Billboard 200 album chart and is one of the top 60 best selling albums of all times. Its song "higher" simply rocked the media and got immense popularity. "Whethered", the third success came into play in 2001, and sold more than 6 million copies. The band was nominated as the Favorite Group on the People's Choice Awards in the year 2003. It has also won many awards including the Billboard Music Awards and the Grammy Awards for the best rock songs. Some of the dominant hits and award winning tracks "With Arms Wide Open". "My Own Prison","My Sacrifice", "Higher" demonstrated their talent and were everywhere on the radio.
Cracks were felt in the unity of the band after the release of its best album "Human Clay". Brian had left the band and the rest could also not deliver what was expected from them. Still they managed a success but it was not as big as expected and from that it was vivid that the band was going down the graph. Ultimately, in the year 2004, the band split up. Stapp released a solo album after the separation, but witnessed failure. Rest of the two joined in with another lead singer Myles Kennedy, to make a new band Alter Bridge. But they could not manage to get a success like Creed had got. Both the releases didn't show up any dominant achievement.A turn took place in the year 2008, when the original members from Creed decided to reunite and enjoy the success once again. In April 2009, it was officially announced that the band is going to re-unite and later in the year it released the album "Full Circle". People have welcomed the reunion of the four individuals and are looking forward for Creed's success over the upcoming years. Both Creed and Alter Bridge will exist simultaneously.
