Christopher Vélez – Christopher Vélez was born in New Jersey, United States on November 23, 1995. He later moved to Loja, Ecuador with his family at the age of three only to return back to the States where he started working in toy factories in order to make ends meet. He then saw an advertisement for La Banda and decided to try his luck by sending a video of him singing. Vélez was soon called to give an audition where he sang Ricky Martin’s Tal Vez before the judges, Ricky Martin, Alejandro Sanz and Laura Pausini. Impressed by his voice, the judges instantly selected him for the next stage.
Richard Camacho – Richard Camacho was born in Santo Domingo on January 22, 1997. He spent the first few years of his life in Dominican Republic before moving to The Bronx, New York City. Camacho auditioned for La Banda with his younger brother, Yashua. The duo was successful in impressing the judges with their performance of Sin Bandera’s Entra En Mi Vida. However, his brother was eliminated in the second round but Richard Camacho sailed through to the final round of the singing competition.
Zabdiel de Jesús - Zabdiel de Jesús was born on December 13, 1997 in Puerto Rico. He was interested in music since his childhood and while perfecting his singing and songwriting skills, he also learned to play multiple instruments including, piano, guitar, drums, mandolin and ukulele. When Jesús learned about La Banda, he appeared for the audition and performed Mientes by Camila. His performance wowed the judges and he was selected on the show.
Joel Pimentel – Joel Pimentel was born in California, United States on February 28, 1999. He too auditioned for La Banda by singing Hundred Sheep which was written by his grandfather. However, the song did not click with the judges but they gave him another chance to perform and he sang I See Fire by Ed Sheeran which took him to the next round. Pimentel reached the finals of the competition.
Erick Brian Colón - Erick Brian Colón was born in Havana, Cuba on January 3, 2001 and is a talented singer, guitarist and composer. After migrating to the United States, he was selected for La Banda after blowing away the judges with his audition. He was almost eliminated from the show as Colón didn’t get the desired score but Ricky Martin, Laura Pausini and Alejandro Sanz voted in his favor and he went on to appear in the final round of the competition.
CNCO: Getting Things Started
On December 13, 2015, CNCO was formed on the finale of La Banda after Christopher Vélez, Richard Camacho, Zabdiel de Jesús, Joel Pimentel and Erick Brian Colón reached the finals of the singing competition. The band was awarded a five-year record deal with Sony Music Latin. The quintet kicked things off by releasing a single with Winsin titled, Tan Fácil which received triple platinum certification by the RIAA. They put out their second single, Quisiera following which they performed the national anthem at the Yankee Stadium.
In August of 2016, CNCO’s first studio album, ‘Primera Cita’ reached the markets. This album not only made an impact in both Latin and American countries but also got them a Lo Nuestro Award for the ‘Pop Album of the Year.’
CNCO 2020 'Press Start' Tour
The popular Latin American act, CNCO has rolled out dates for the first round of their new 2020 tour dubbed “Press Start Tour.” The trek kicks off on May 30 with a performance at the iconic Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan, PR and comes to an end on June 21 in Chicago, Illinois. The final performance of the trek is scheduled at the Rosemont Theater. In total there are 11 cities the band will visit. On the way, it will also make stops at Los Angeles’ The Forum and New York’s United Palace. Recently, the band dropped their album Que Quienes Somos that was received positively by all music circles. The seven track EP was released via Sony Music and all band members contributed in the making of the songs. It is their most personal work till date. Fans can enjoy the award winning group’s fresh songs live on the upcoming tour with CNCO tickets.
