Chris Young was born to sing which is why he got interested in music at an early age and was seen performing in different children's theater productions. He then started to play gigs in different clubs before the Tennessee native decided to participate in the American reality television singing competition, 'Nashville Star.' He won the show in 2006 and was instantly signed by the RCA Records which issued his first self-titled studio album. The record climbed at the third spot on the Top Country Albums chart and was supported by a couple of singles out of which, Drinkin' Me Lonely was positively received by the critics.
After a gap of three years, Chris Young returned under the spotlight again as his second studio album, 'The Man I Want to Be' hit the markets. This record brought his way more fame as it was certified platinum in the United States and featured three number-one singles, Gettin' You Home (The Black Dress Song), The Man I Want to Be and Voices. The first two songs from the list became huge bangers and went on to sell more than a million copies in the U.S. He didn't stop there and came out with his second platinum record, 'Neon' which turned out to be a huge critical hit, receiving 4/5 stars from AllMusic and Country Weekly and also produced a couple of chart-topping singles, Tomorrow and You.
Chris Young has been on a roll since the release of, 'The Man I Want to Be' and has gone on to drop four studio efforts more including, 'A.M.' and 'I'm Comin' Over' which was certified gold by the RIAA. The former record turned out to be his highest-charting record to date, reaching at the third spot on the Billboard 200 and received 79/100 rating from Metacritic.
Eli Young Band
Eli Young Band was created by Mike Eli when he met with James Young at the University of North Texas. The duo then recruited two more members Jon Jones and Chris Thompson into the band and got things off by releasing their first studio album, 'Level' on April 5, 2005. The record did not bring them any chart success but that didn't stop the band from creating music and they soon released their sophomore studio effort, 'Jet Black & Jealous' which reached at the fifth spot on the Top Country Albums chart. It also featured a single, Always the Love Songs which was certified gold by the RIAA.
In 2011, the guys dropped their next studio project, 'Life at Best' which gave a couple of number-one hits, Crazy Girl and Even If It Breaks Your Heart. The band then came out with their first chart-topping studio effort, '10,000 Towns' before they released their most recent effort, 'Fingerprints' which hit the markets in 2017.
Matt Stell began making efforts to turn his dreams of becoming a successful singer-songwriter into a reality in 2010 and released three albums independently, 'Live at the Snorty House' 'The Sound and the Story' and 'Vestibule Blues.' A couple of years later, he dropped his next studio record, 'A River Through It.' During this time, he continued to tour with major stars of the business including, Luke Bryan and also went on to write songs for other artists like, Casey Donahew and Bart Crow.
In 2019, Stell released his debut single, Prayed for You which became a big hit, making it to the Rolling Stone's list of the, '10 Best Country Songs to Hear Now.' The song became so successful that it not only grabbed the attention of the former president and CEO of Jive Records, Barry Weiss who signed him to his record label but also peaked at the 25th spot on the Hot Country Songs chart. In the same year, he made his debut at the Grand Ole Opry.
