Falling in love with music
Born on September 1, 1985, Charlie Worsham got into music at a young age. He started to learn different instruments when he was a child especially banjo. By the age of 10, he excelled at his banjo playing skills and was also invited to perform with the, ‘King of Bluegrass,’ Jimmy Martin live at the Ryman Auditorium. Two years later, he took part in the Junior National Banjo Championship and won that competition which led to him playing live at the Grand Ole Opry.
After Worsham graduated from high school, he attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston before deciding to move to Nashville. Once he landed in the Music City, he joined the band, KingBilly and featured on their extended play, ‘Waiting On You.’ This EP was released on October 6, 2009 via The Echo Label and consisted of five songs, See How Far We Get, Surrender, Drive Away, Waiting on You and Love on the Other Side. The extended play made the band famous around Nashville and they even appeared on the Great American Country’s, ‘GAC Minute.’ The band however eventually disbanded in 2012.
Could it Be
After a year, Charlie Worsham started his solo career and got signed with Warner Bros. Records. He issued his first single, Could it Be on January 14, 2013. The song was written by him along with Ryan Tyndell and Marty Dodson. It landed at the thirteenth spot on the Country Airplay chart. Seven months later, he came out with his debut studio effort, ‘Rubberband.’ This album changed his life forever as it landed at the twelfth spot on the Top Country Albums and received 4.5/5 stars from Taste of Country. In addition, it contained a collaborative single with Vince Gill and Marty Stuart titled, Tools of the Trade.
Beginning of Things
A second record was put out by Charlie Worsham on April 21, 2017 titled, ‘Beginning of Things.’ The album was produced by Eric Masse and Frank Liddell and featured thirteen songs out of which, he released, Cut Your Groove as the lead single. The album received positive reviews from American publications including, AllMusic which gave it four stars out of five. It also made a huge impact in Europe and earned him the British Country Music Association Award nomination for the ‘International Act of the Year.’
Going on tour
Charlie Worsham is now scheduled to perform three shows alongside Miranda Lambert and Jon Pardi. The first gig will take place live at the Prudential Center whereas he will perform the other two shows at the Bryce Jordan Center and the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
