The Black Crowes were originally an incarnation of music group Mr. Crowe’s Garden that took its name from the children’s book called Johnny Crowe’s Garden, starting in Atlanta in 1984. Being majorly influenced by classic southern rock and psychedelic pop acts of the sixties, as well as contemporary one such as R.E.M., the band slowly took shape of a revivalist group dedicated to the blues rock of the seventies. Though the group has been marked with much inconsistency on part of its lineup, its main motivational forces depends on brothers Rich and Chris Robinson. By 1989, the group that had drew heavy inspiration from Humble Pie, Buddy Guy, Faces, Rolling Stones and Otis Redding, finally made their demo tape that brought them their contract with Def American.
