Getting off to a good start
Born in Illinois, Bill Murray joined an improvisational comedy troupe in Chicago, The Second City. He later took a flight to New York where he was hired by John Belushi as a featured player on The National Lampoon Radio Hour. Soon, Bill found himself as a cast member of the hit television variety show, ‘Saturday Night Live.’ He remained a part of that series for three seasons from 1977 to 1980. Taking a break
After a while, Bill Murray decided to work on a dramatic film, ‘The Razor’s Edge.’ The flick was released in 1984. It failed to meet the expectations of his fans and bombed at the box-office. This caused Murray to take a break from acting and he went on to spend time with his family. Four years later, Bill made his return to acting and starred in films like, ‘Scrooged’ and ‘Ghostbusters II’ out of which the former earned him a nomination for a Saturn Award in the category of the ‘Best Actor.’

Bill was soon asked to portray the role of Herman Blume in the film, ‘Rushmore.’ The film got him numerous accolades like, American Comedy Award, Independent Spirit Award, Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award and Satellite Award. Murray then decided to try performing dramatic roles as a result of which, he starred in one of the most important films of his career, ‘Lost in Translation’ which came out in 2003. It received great reviews from the critics and his part in the flick earned him a, Golden Globe Award, an Independent Spirit Award and BAFTA Award.
Since then, Murray has acted in films like, ‘The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou,’ ‘Broken Flowers,’ ‘Get Low’ and ‘Hyde Park on Hudson’ among others.

Bill Murray to set out on a tour soon
On September 22, 2017, Bill Murray came out with his latest studio album, in collaboration with Jan Vogler, ‘New Worlds.’ He has now announced a new tour in support of his record which is scheduled to begin in March with a show at the Mizner Park Amphitheater. Murray will then make a stop in Washington where he will play his second gig at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. He will then go on to play a series of concerts in cities like, Boston, Dallas, Detroit and Minneapolis before the acclaimed comedian and actor ends his road trip in December.
