The dawn of AJR
AJR is a band of three dynamic brothers, Adam Met, Jack Met and Ryan Met. The trio decided to form a band in 2005 because they shared similar interests in music. To get things rolling, the Met brothers started busking around New York City especially in Washington Square Park and Central Park. It did not take them too long before they began wowing fans by playing cover songs of their favorite artists. They then began to save money they generated from performing in the streets and invested that to buy studio equipments. After they bought the items they needed, the trio began to write, mix and produce their own material.
Inspired by names like, Vampire Weekend, The Beach Boys, Weezer and Simon and Garfunkel, they wrote their first hit song, I’m Ready. AJR recorded the track and tweeted the video of the song to 80 celebrities including Sia Furler who is the voice behind multi-platinum selling songs like Chandelier and Elastic Heart. Blown away by their talents, she told her manager about the song who then contacted the owner of S-Curve Records, Steve Greenberg. He later became the band’s co-manager.
AJR soon released I’m Ready through Warner Bros. Records and their own record label AJR Productions. The single turned out to be a commercial hit in Australia where it was certified two times platinum. It also received significant airplay in the United States and sold in excess of one million copies in the country.
Getting the world hooked to their music
In 2013, AJR churned out their debut extended play ‘I’m Ready.’ The EP consisted of five songs and landed at the thirty second spot on the Top Heatseekers chart. One year later, the brothers spawned their second EP, ‘Infinity.’ It included four original tracks and one remix version of their hit single, I’m Ready. Those four songs also included the title track. They put out a music video of the track which has crossed one million views on YouTube.
Living Room and The Click
On February 27, 2015, AJR came out with their first studio album ‘Living Room.’ The record couldn’t produce the results they were hoping for and failed to chart on the Billboard 200. The album featured a blend of pop and rock music and included thirteen songs on the track-list.
Adam, Jack and Ryan then began to write songs for their next album, ‘The Click.’ It hit the stores on June 9, 2017 and offered three singles, Weak, Drama and Sober Up. The former went platinum in three countries, the United States, Belgium and Canada whereas in Australia and Germany it recorded gold level sales. The band has also spawned the music video of the song which has been viewed more than twenty seven million times on YouTube.
