Venues of Saint Paul
Saint Paul lies on the eastern shores of the Mississippi River and joins up with Minneapolis. Together, they are the ‘Twin Cities’ and make up the sixteenth-largest metropolitan area in the United States. The city experiences a large range of temperatures throughout the year; it’s a cold and snowy winter, and the summers are equally hot and humid. Saint Paul gets everything from snow and sleet, to fog, rain and thunderstorms.
One of the city’s most well-known structures is the Xcel Energy Center, which opened up in 2000 and is considered today to be one of the world’s finest arenas. It’s one-of-a-kind and serves as a venue for many sports and entertainment events. It brings in more than a million visitors every year. It’s definitely a big reason for any sports fan to drop by and check out a few events, or even just the arena itself. They’ve got great food and great service at the Headwaters Bar and Restaurant. There’s also the National Hockey League’s Alumni Lounge and Treasure Island Ice Lodge to check out. The Xcel is also the NHL’s first venue to offer AT&T Wi-Fi, and everyone knows free Wi-Fi is as good as it gets. Other than many ice-hockey events, locals and tourists can also see great gigs, from artists and bands the likes of Pearl Jam, Motley Crue, Santana and shows like Disney on Ice!
There’s the Como Park Zoo & Conservatory which is a great hit with kids, as well as the Como Town Amusement Park which has rides and attractions that can be found no place else in the entire upper Midwest. The Minnesota History Center is also a great way to go back to the state’s beginnings and really explore it all.
Saint Paul has been built to fit Eastern standards, and is also occasionally referred to as the last city of the East. It’s a great place for families that love walking around, soaking in the sun and enjoying the towers, turrets, city squares, parks and other aspects of architecture. The State Capitol itself is one of Cass Gilbert’s designs. Those who are interested in art can stop by the Minnesota Museum of American Art to browse through the amazing, contemporary work that local artists have put up on display there.
For all those interested in the local music scene, there are many clubs to choose from, including The Loft, Varsity Theater, Turf Club and also a very interesting place called Wabasha Street Caves. Caves have been made to look like a 1930’s den for gangsters to come in and have a bite to eat. For all those who like a spot of fun with games of chance, there’s the Running Aces Harness Park and also the Canterbury Park horse-racing track.
Saint Paul might be a small city, but it’s very well rounded and has a lot to offer to people of all ages and interests. The city is colored in many shades of diversity and is also the location of the Hmong Archives. Saint Paul tickets are available for when you plan a trip to indulge in all that this place has to offer.
