| So You Think You Can Dance is an interactive reality television program and talent dance competition currently being run on the U.S. entertainment channel, Fox. The show is produced by 19 Entertainment and Dick Clarke Productions, and was created by Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythgoe in 2005. Ever since the shows inception, four judges have participated in the show as judges; Nigel Lythgoe, Mia Michaels, Adam Shankman, and Mary Murphy. The first season of the show was hosted by award-winning American television personality, Lauren Sanchez. Sanchez was replaced by British model and television personality Cat Deeley to host the second and still ongoing season of the talent show.
The show aims to showcase the hidden talent of unknown dancers and in the process also acknowledge the work and efforts put in by choreographers who help the contestants in preparing their dance routines. The main format of the television show includes multiple auditions specifically designed to effectively gauge the dancing skills of the competitors taking part in the contest. After a thorough screening process, about twenty talented individuals are chosen to finally compete on national television. Since 2005, various locations around the world have been used to hold auditions and the show itself, including the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, the CBS Studio Center in Los Angeles, the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, and several U.S. cities.
