Oakridge tickets Formed as the Oak Ridge Quartet back in 1945, the Oak Ridge Boys have been in the music industry for quite some time and during that time, they’ve gathered a strong fan base with their work in the gospel and country genres. Although the quartet was formed back in mid 40s, but massive fame and exposure came to them later in the 50s. Initially, the quartet’s main focus remained on the gospel music but later by the 70s they devoted more of their attention towards country and pop music. The group received its present name, which is Oakridge Boys, in 60s. The band’s lineup has undergone a number of changes over the years and the present line up of the group comprises of Richard Sterban, Duane Allen, William Lee Golden and Joe Bonsall. The Oak Ridge Boys made their debut as the recording act by releasing their first studio album, Street Gospel in 1973, and also in the same year they released another one of the gospel oriented albums titled the Lighthouse and Other Gospel hits. Three more gospel albums followed afterwords, until the band finally switched its genre from gospel to country music and released their first all country album, Y’all Come Back Saloon in 1977. The album became their first top ten charting album as it peaked at number 8 spot on the U.S Country Chart. Moreover, the album also spawned two top five country chart hits. The group’s first number 1 hit was I’ll Be True to You which was released on their second country album, Room Service. The two albums which followed Room Service were, Oak Ridge Boys Have Arrived and Together. Fancy Free, which was released in 1981, was the group’s sixth studio album and by far, its group’s bestselling album as well. The album also scored group’s most famous song “Elvira”, which was written by Dallas Frazier. The song managed to get the number 1 spot on the country chart. Following the fame of the song, Elvira was covered by many acts later on including Kenny Rogers and Frazier himself. So far the group has released a total of 24 studio album, and has given 17 #1 hits. Over the years they’ve also won a number of awards and nominations including a Grammy Award, Country Music Association Awards and Academy of Country Music Awards. Every year, The Oak Ridge Boys perform at various venues nationwide with their special performances at the Oakridge Boys Theater which is located in Missouri. Oakridge Boys theater opened its doors for audience back in 1994, and underwent an extensive overhaul which took the count of the seats to 2150. Apart from the performances by Oak Ridge Boys, the Oakridge Boys Theater will also showcase the performances of the Country Tonite, and Marty Haggard.
