The TD Ameritrade Park Omaha is a baseball field situated in its namesake city in Nebraska. It is currently the home base for the “College World Series”. The ballpark is sometimes simply referred to as “The Trade” and is the newest addition to the city’s list of landmarks. It was officiated in April of 2011, and since then has become home to a number of teams and companies. UFL’s “Omaha Nighthawks” have their games here as do the “Bluejays” of the “Creighton University”. More recently, the park has gone on to hosting games with the “Missouri Valley Conference” as well. Even as a new venue, the ballpark continues to grow and expand at a rapid pace. With all the new technology that has gone in its design and the Kentucky blue grass that covers its fields, it has resonated with the locals as well. If you are near the area and want to experience a game in this state of the art site, get TD Ameritrade Park Omaha tickets for you and your family.
The ball park has been built to hold exactly 24,000 spectators in the seating stands but has the capacity to increase to about a 35,000. The Trade was built on a big budget; a number nearing $128 million. It had a prime location, placed ideally next to the “Century Link Centre Omaha”, right in the heart of the city. Around the time, the management feared that the budget was too extravagant and that they would remain bankrupt if the project was to go on. Fortunately for them, the park’s first year alone gave them a profit turnover of about $5.6 million. They could comfortably cover their debt with this number and concentrate on working towards its expansion as a company rather than just a baseball venue.
But since the Trade is only a little over a year old, there have been some legal inaugural limitation that have stood in the way of its immediate expansion. The biggest one, for instance, is that they cannot host a professional team till later on in 2013. Still, as the time looms large, the management is already in talks to bring the “Big Ten Conference” to Omaha. There have been rumors that their official tournament might take place here. That could be just the push the park would need to become widely known as a credible organization. If TD Ameritrade Park Omaha tickets are sold for a tournament as famous as this, it would also give them the opportunity to become a tourist attraction, inviting sponsors all the while.
Plans for making the Trade had begun in early 2009, and its construction began in the same year. TD Ameritrade headed this project and earned the naming rights. Fred Tomczyk was the project manager who announced what the park was to be called in June of 2009. By 2010, when the construction was almost complete, the management started to plan the park’s earliest games. In April of 2010, they decided that the “Omaha Nighthawks”, a local favorite football team, and part of the “United Football League” would play their beginning season in the park. This surprised many people who believed the venue to be largely a baseball field. But necessary markings were made onto the field and the games were later on accommodated. Moreover, in order to diversify the venue’s use, a musical festival, lasting for 6 days, was also announced. This was the “Red Sky Music Festival” that invited many reputable names to come and perform. Every night for the duration of the event, a major artist would take the stage, attracting a large audience, both local and from neighboring cities.
The first game to ever be played on the fields of the TD Ameritrade was a between the “Creighton Bluejays” and the “Nebraska Cornhuskers”. The first pitch ceremony was carried out with Fred Tomczyk, the project manager as the highlight, thus marking the inauguration their big project. It seemed to be a day of firsts for the city. They not only held their first ever game at the Trade but also hosted hamster and balk races; a sport that had never been played commercially before. At the end of the day, it was the Cornhuskers that rose victorious. Regardless, both teams played to a sold out stadium, creating a memorable moment for the audiences and the management.
This year will continue to be important for the stadium as they expand their horizons and invite major teams as their 2013 legal obligation ends.
