Located in Houston, Texas, Reliant Arena has been successfully operating since its opening in 1974. It has been hosting events of various sorts all through the history of the arena. Stretched across the total area of 350,000 Square Feet, Reliant Arena has the capacity to seat 8,500 audience members. Apart from being famous for staging the diverse array of events in the city, Reliant Arena is also famous for being a home field for Women’s National Basketball Association’s Houston Comets who played there in 2008 before being folded. Presently, Reliant Arena hosts the home games of Southern Indoor Football League’s Houston Lightning, who have been Arena’s tenants since 2010. In addition to that, World Indoor Soccer League’s Houston Hotshots, and NCAA’s Rice Owls have also called Reliant Arena, their home field.
Reliant Arena has the capacity of seating about 8,500 audience members within its vicinity, which makes Reliant Arena a perfect venue for the events that aren’t expected to attract a large number of attendees. The Reliant Arena comprises of two separate floors which can accommodate various sorts of events. The ground floor of the arena is the main arena floor, where most of the events are held at the arena. The upper floor, on the other hand, comprises of meeting rooms as well the four exhibit halls. These exhibit halls are named as Exhibit Hall A, B, C, and D, and the largest of these is the Exhibit Hall D which stretches across 100,000 square feet of space. Apart from these exhibit halls there also office spaces, and small meeting rooms.
The ground was broke for the Reliant Arena back in the early 1970s and the construction of the arena saw its completion back in 1974. Since the Reliant Arena was constructed right next to the AstroHall, it was initially known as the AstroArena as well for a brief amount of time. However, Astrohall was later put to ground in 2002, to accommodate some parking space for the Reliant Stadium. So after the demolition of Astrohall, all those events that were previous held at the Astrohall were now being held at the Reliant Arena. So other than sporting events and concerts, various other events like Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and National Catholic Youth Conference also made its way to the Reliant Arena. When it comes to hosting wrestling events, Reliant Arena has hosted its fair share of wrestling shows over the years as well. Reliant Arena has staged wrestling shows of now defunct World Championship Wrestling and World Wrestling Entertainment.
