Inaugurated in 2007, Prudential Center is located in Newark, New Jersey US. The center is a multi-purpose facility designed by Populous in collaboration with Morris Adjmi Architects. The Center is dubbed as “The Rock” in indication to the logo of the Prudential Financial, the organization that possesses the naming rights to the center. The arena has around twenty thousand seats and is home to New Jersey Devils (National Hockey League), Seton Hall Pirates (NCAA, Basketball team), and temporarily for New Jersey Nets (NBA) and New York Liberty (Women’s National Basketball Association). In 2011, the center ranked amongst the top ten grossing arenas in the world by Venue Today publication, joining the likes of O2 Arena (London), Madison Square Garden, Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, and the Staples Center, LA. Built around a seven-acre area, the Prudential Center took almost three years to construct, with initial designs released in 2005. Around three thousand workers were employed for construction purposes under the design of Populous. Morris Adjmi Architechs designed the exterior. The project went through a series of halt threats due to financial troubles but ultimately completed by funding of the city, the Devils as well as a twenty-year contract for naming rights that was sold to Prudential Financial. The arena was built after numerous threats by New Jersey Devils to relocate even though the team was a highly ranked NHL team. The Center was completed after incurring a cost of over three fifty million dollars.
The Prudential Center incorporates several facilities due to its modern design and equipment. The NHL arena accommodates four LED and scoreboard equipped with high quality display around the rink area. The center also features around seventy luxury suites that are the largest in the North America. The entire arena consists of a total of seven fifty flat screen TVs along with Wi-Fi zone all over.
