Keeping that in mind, Pei did not want to use the modern architecture while designing the facility. The outer side of the arena is in circular shape which in itself is made up of glass entirely. The design is a bit on the conservative side.
 
The acoustics of this shoebox styled dome consists of concrete doors that weigh in at a staggering two and a half tons each. Then there are fifty six curtains that are used to lower vibrations. On top of that there is a specifically designed canopy system that weighs at forty two tons. The entire system is suspended over the stage and can be moved in different directions to propel the sound to the entire audience. The unique design and acoustics make it an arena that is just perfect for orchestral performances.
