The Lunt Fontanne Theatre is one of the most renowned venues located in New York City, at 205 West on the 46th Street. It boasts of a seating capacity of over fifteen hundred and is a Broadway theatre regarded as one of the most iconic places, a venue where many a Broadway productions have played live to audiences with Lunt Fontanne Theatre tickets in their pockets. It was first opened to public in 1910 and continued to play host until 1931 when it was closed. In 1957, it was rebuilt and opened again in 1958. It has been active since then and was formerly known as the Glove Theater.

The Lunt Fontanne Theatre is a Broadway theater located in midtown Manhattan. It was originally named as the Globe Theatre, in tribute to the Shakespearean playhouse of the same name located in London, UK. The very first production performed at the theater was The Old Town, one of the earliest musicals to premiere on Broadway. It was built with a Beaux-Arts fa├žade as well as a smaller entrance at the intersection of the forty sixth and forty seventh streets. A number of dramatic plays were staged at this theater during its initial years, including revivals of the famous La Dame aux Camelias.

During the twenties, the Lunt Fontanne Theatre began playing host to musicals and thus became known in New York City as the place to be for lovers of musicals. Its construction at the time was also considered innovative because the ceiling and roof could be rolled back to show the starlight as well as help in keeping the venue cool during summer. This was unique as no other theater at the time sported such an innovation.

During the thirties, the Lunt Fontanne Theatre was converted into a movie house until it was bought by City Playhouses Inc. who then proceeded to rebuild and renovate it. The venue was also renamed to its present name, in honor of Lynn Fontanne and Alfred Lunt. It reopened a year later with The Visit, a Friedrich Durrenmatt play that starred Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne. Its lobby is also an artistic marvel and a tribute; during the showcase of the Titanic: The Musical, it was painted with the names of all those who traveled on the Titanic in its tragic maiden voyage.

The longest running show in this theater is Beauty and the Beast, a Disney musical that has run for thirteen plus years. It has played host to several more Disney productions including The Addams Family and The Little Mermaid, both a must see live via Lunt Fontanne Theatre tickets .
