The EnergySolutions Arena formerly the Delta Centre is an indoor arena hosting a wide range of sports, social and community events around the year. Located in Salt Lake City, Utah, the arena comes under the proprietorship of Larry H. Miller; who custom built this venue as a multi-purpose facility to facilitate conduct of events and activities for Salt Lake City in general and NBA’s Utah Jazz in particular. The EnergySolutions Arena formerly the Delta Centre was constructed by Sumitomo Trust and the Redevelopment Agency of Salt Lake City. Its ground was opened in 1990 for a fast track construction spanning seventeen months. Designed and conceptualized to deliver a state-of-the-art the Delta Center was completed and opened to public in October 1991. With a seating capacity of approximately twenty thousand seats for basketball court; the venue also has clubbing and accommodation facilities.
As the Delta Center the site remained under this name for sixteen years. After from the name change The EnergySolutions Arena formerly the Delta Centre became home arena for Utah Blaze, an NFL team. Apart from the major football and basketball occupation, the arena also provides floor for figure skating and short track speed skating. The venue also turns into the Salt Lake Ice Center when it houses competitions of winter games and Olympics. An interesting feature of the basketball arena is life size duo of statues depicting jazz heroes John Stockton and Karl Malone, giants of Utah Jazz.
Salt Palace Arena, the predecessor to the Delta Centre was demolished to make for this grand facility. Targeted to become host for the Utah Jazz 1991/92 season, Sahara Construction of Bountiful and with Ohbayashi Corporation created this building with design drawn in parallel to the construction. The concrete structures and structural frame of reinforcing steel for this huge building are completely awe inspiring. From architectural design to structural engineering, the construction of The EnergySolutions Arena formerly the Delta Centre is a wonder that seems to defy gravity in various cuts and corners.
