Located in Orlando, Florida, the Amway Center is a hub of entertainment and sporting events. The venue opened in October 2010, succeeding Amway Arena as the new home of sports and entertainment in Downtown Orlando. The Center is home to the Orlando Predators (AFL) and the Orlando’s famous NBA team “Orlando Magic.” The Center was awarded a LEED Gold certificate, for its sustainable construction and design, by the USGBC (United States Green Building Council), becoming the first NBA arena to be awarded a Gold status. Since its inception, the venue has hosted various popular entertainments including concerts of Bon Jovi, Lady Gaga, WWE events, and NBA All-Star games. The Center provides various attractions for local as well as tourists even on non-event days where the facility homes businesses, cafes and restaurants. Acquiring Amway Center tickets, whether for an NBA game or a concert of your favorite star, will lead to a memorable experience at the beautifully designed all-purpose facility.
Operated and monitored by the City of Orlando, the newly designed Amway Center replaced the Amway Arena in order to incorporate the changing needs of the city to host high-class events and performances. The growing needs of the city, which is the third largest metro area in Florida and the sixth largest in southeast US, resulted in an agreement between Orange County Mayor “Richard Crotty,” Orlando Mayor “Buddy Dyer,” and the “Orlando Magic” to rebuild the multi-purpose facility using state of the art technology. The project cost over four hundred million US dollars to complete with initial funding provided by Magic and the city. Populous was announced as the Amway Center’s architect along with Hunt Constructions, Rey Group and HZ Construction as the General Contractors. The art curator “Sports and the Arts” took care of the facility’s art collection that included over three hundred art works and focused on representing artists from Central Florida.
The Amway Center is a much-improved version of its predecessor Amway Arena. The Center houses around twenty thousand seats, over thirty Founders Suites, around thirty Presidential Suites, around sixty Loge Boxes, All-star Decks, an AirTran Flight Deck as well as a Kia Deck. Multiple lounges, restaurants and bars house the external perimeter of the facility. One of the most fashionable bars, The Sky Bar, is located on top floor that provides a breathtaking view of the city. The arena also accommodates the tallest video board for NBA that uses high pixel technology. The facility has around twenty bathrooms to accommodate large crowd, a problem in the previous venue.
The city of Orlando attracts more than fifty million tourists annually. The Amway Center has become a pivotal building in transforming the city’s landscape and hauling the city towards development. The center is the first LEED Gold certified sustainable NBA arena and provides a beautiful sight with an elaborate cobblestone-paved structure. The facility is also a smoke free zone and provides stunning view of the city from the top. Obtaining Amway Center tickets for any event allows audiences to enjoy the event in a state of the art facility that offers comfort, ease and above all an unforgettable experience. |
