Zelda at the Oasis Tickets

It is a magical night at The Club Oasis. Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald has escaped to this New York City bar for a drink all by herself. The night unfolds to see an unusual and unexpected friendship building between Zelda and a man who is a barkeep, a musician and the only other person in the place. The unique bond triggers vivid memories that transform the bartender into characters from Zelda’s past, all of whom played their part in shaping her self-image. This after-hours encounter leads to the two people sharing their dreams and insights with each other in a hope to get some courage which will help them get on with their lives. This is the story of a new play Zelda at the Oasis; a biographical play of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s wife who remained overshadowed because of her husband’s success all her life. The play by P.H. Lin has become an instant success with Zelda at the Oasis tickets a popular commodity among the circle of theater fans.

Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald was the wife of F. Scott Fitzgerald, a legendary American novelist. Zelda at the Oasis is the play based on the life of this infamous starlet. The off-Broadway production premiered at St. Luke’s Theatre on December 4, 2012 to much critical acclaim. Andy Sandberg directed the play and it starred Gardner Reed in the lead role of Zelda while the role of Bar Man was played by Edwin Cahill. Playwright P.H. Lin did justice to the story and made it a success.

All her life, Zelda wanted nothing more except for recognition of her work and an artistic identity of her own. But her bi-polar disorder and her husband’s overpowering personality always remained the two biggest hurdles in achieving what she wanted. One night Zelda decides to go for a drink and chooses The Club Oasis. There she strikes a unique bond with the bar man who is also an aspiring musician.

The play takes place in the New York City of 1930. Set designing by Colin McGurk and costumes by Dustin Cross has done wonders in presenting a perfect atmosphere of that period. The play has ever-shifting modes but the director Andy Sandberg has remained adrift in handling all of them. Watching the play, one is bent on admitting that the strong story line of Zelda at the Oasis has been handled exceptionally without a hitch throughout the show.

Zelda Fitzgerald was an interesting person but it was not easy being her. Although married to a famous novelist, her marriage was turbulent. She was a talented person but suffered from bi-polar disorder and it was her growing mental inability that became one of the reasons of her not getting successful. Her fate led her to die at the age of 47 in a fire. 64 years after her death, she is portrayed in a biographical play; Zelda at the Oasis, by P.H. Lin. He has presented her as a flapper who is at an after-hours bar, sharing her night with the only other soul at the place, the bar man. Hard-drunk, Zelda drifts into throes of memories which bring flashbacks of her life, transforming the barkeep into figures from her life such as F. Scott, Ernest Hemingway, a doctor, Zelda’s French lover, her mother and also as a drag.

The story of Zelda lamenting about her thwarted dreams where she has always remained overshadowed because of the fame of her husband is a play worth watching. The actors in Zelda at the Oasis have performed remarkably in the characters of a remorseful, drunk woman and a barkeep that has played so many contrasting characters quite convincingly. Though quite new in the theater circle, Zelda at the Oasis tickets have seen substantial sales right at its premier. All this shows that the play is going to make it big on Broadway and has all the plans to stay there for long.
