Young Frankenstein is a musical adaptation of one of the most famous comedy movies of the same name. Released in 1974, Young Frankenstein was lauded for its hilarity and creativity. It is one of the most popular comedy movies of all time. The movie enlivens the characters of Merry Shelley’s famous novel ‘Frankenstein’. The movie, in actuality, is a parody of all horror flicks and is produced and directed in a typical classical fashion to add humor and slight. The flick, Young Frankenstein, is an all-time-favorite fan-flick. It ranks number 28 on the ‘List of the 50 Greatest Comedy Films of All Time’ and number 56 on the list of ‘100 Funniest Movies’. The movie has been able to grab Academy as well as Golden Globe Awards in various categories. With such popularity and demand, this movie has been a part of cinema on and off, for decades. Brooks, the director, adapted the movie into the musical score of the same name. The musical first premiered in 2007 and was an instant success. It has been a part of theatres ever since. Brooks describes his movie Young Frankenstein as the best of his career. He started off with the musical of his first movie, The Producers. The success led to the theatre production of, Young Frankenstein. Brooks was pleased with the audiences’ overwhelming response and then the touring of the show began in 2009. After a brief hiatus in August 2009, the musical is back with a new cast and new touring schedule. The musical, like the movie has all the makings of a classic. The dances, dresses, choreography and acts are well organized and directed. The acts are executed with exactness and perfection. Humor and wit is the mainstay of the musical. It is an absolute treat for the audience. ‘Severely funny lines’, as one of the audiences puts it, are a frequent sight and no five minutes of the show pass without comedy. Aside from humor, the story line is gripping and thrilling. The story begins when the grandson of the ‘mad scientist’ returns to Transylvania to settle the property issues. Although he would not like to admit his association with the ‘Monster Revivalist’ Dr. Victor von Frankenstein, Frederick sets for his inherited castle in the town of his grandfather. The story continues when the town folks are shown ecstatic whilst celebrating the funeral procession of the much detested Dr Victor. Everybody is glad to be rid of him but suspicions and reservations arise the moment his grandson enters the town. In a dream, Frederick sees his grandfather beseeching him to revive his living-dead scheme. Frederick is shown fascinated and together with Igor, his henchman, he manages to liven up a dead body. The dead body is let loose by the housekeeper and the whole town is abuzz and panicked. Elizabeth, Frederick’s fiancée, comes to town to look for him when the monster gets smitten with her. The creature abducts her to a cave where, after intimacy, it dawns on them that they are soul mates. Elated, they get engaged while the town folks are on a lookout for Frederick as they suspect him for Elizabeth’s murder. The final scene of musical gets the audience doubled over with laughter fits where Frederick, standing on the gallows, is about to be hanged. Audience’s favorite moment comes when the monster appears to convince the folks in his elaborated medical terminology and articulation that Frederick is not the murderer. In the meantime Elizabeth joins them and Frederick is released. The show ends when the monster weds Elizabeth and Frederick proposes to his lab assistant, Inga. This show is a must watch for everyone. You can get all Young Frakenstein Tickets on discount here. Wait no more, the tickets are hot sellers.
