West Side Story North York ON show is musical inspired by the classic play, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. Its book is written by Arthur Laurents, music composed by Leonard Berstein and lyrics written by Stephen Sondheim, while the musical is conceptualized and choreographed by Jerome Robbins.  The story is set in New York of 1950s, exploring the rivalry between two dominant teenage gangs from two distinct ethnic groups, namely the Sharks and the Jets. The Shark members are from Puerto Rico, treated in a rather derogatory manner by the white, working-class Jets.  The plot develops round Tony, a member of the Jets, who falls in love with young Maria, who is the sister of Bernardo, the Sharks’ leader. The musical score by Bernstein has gained much prominence over the years with songs like Maria, Something’s Coming, Tonight, Somewhere, America, Jet Song, A Boy Like That, I Feel Pretty, Cool, Gee, Officer Krupke and One Hand, One Heart.
