The Musicals

School of Rock – A rock musical, School of Rock is a Tony nominated show which is based on Mike White’s 2003 comedy film of the same name. Its music is provided by the Academy Award winning English impresario and composer of musical theater, Andrew Lloyd Webber. Its lyrics are written by Grammy winner, Glenn Slater.

School of Rock opened on Broadway on December 6, 2015 and was staged at the Winter Garden Theatre in Manhattan. Choreographed and directed by JoAnn M. Hunter and Laurence Connor respectively, this production featured Alex Brightman as Dewey Finn and Sierra Boggess as Rosalie Mullins. The show became a hit and was praised by many famous publications including, New York Times, Time Out New York, NBC New York, Variety, Hollywood Reporter and the Chicago Tribune.

Frozen – The Musical – Frozen is a new musical which is based on the Hans Christian Anderson fairytale, ‘The Snow Queen’ and the two-time Academy Award winning Hollywood film, ‘Frozen,’ written by Chris Buck, Jennifer Lee and Shane Morris. Its music and lyrics are provided by the duo of Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez whereas the book is penned down by Jennifer Lee.

Frozen was taken on a test run in the spring of 2017 and was staged at the Buell Theatre in Denver, Colorado from August 17 to October 1. It then made its Broadway debut at the St. James Theatre on March 22, 2018. Directed and choreographed by Michael Grandage and Rob Ashford respectively, the musical starred Patti Murin as Anna, Caissie Levy as Elsa, Jelani Alladin as Kristoff, John Riddle as Hans and Greg Hildreth as Olaf. The original Broadway production of Frozen earned three nominations for the Tony Award including one for, ‘Best Musical.’

Matilda – Matilda is a stage musical which is based on Roald Dahl’s book of the same name. Its music and lyrics are given by the multi-award winning comedian, director, writer, actor and musician, Tim Minchin whereas the book is written by Dennis Kelly.

Matilda the Musical premiered at Stratford-upon-Avon and ran for twelve weeks from November 2010 to January 2011. It then made its West End debut and was staged at the Cambridge Theatre on November 24, 2011 before it debuting on Broadway at the Shubert Theatre on April 11, 2013. The original Broadway production garnered multiple accolades including, five Tony Awards and Drama Desk Awards each.
