After facing a lot of hardships they end up signing a contract with an upcoming producer Norman Petty who respected their ideas and allowed them to experiment with music and produce something unique. This paved way for the group’s success and their songs became an instant hit including Peggy Sue and That’ll be The Day. After gaining the popularity that they wanted to the group decided to perform at the theater in Harlem. They won appreciation from all corners of the country and the critics adored their work as well. They started recording in New York City where Buddy Holly marries Maria Elena Santiago. Eventually the Crickets break and that marks his entry into the music industry as a solo singer. His appearance at the Winter Dance Party in the year 1959 created headlines that season. In the very same year Buddy Holly along with Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper while travelling on a small plane met a tragedy as their plane crashed due to a storm.
